BANTAYAN ISLAND: A living Paradise

An island situated at the northern tip part of Cebu which is reachable by almost 1 and 30 minutes travel by ferry from Haganay, San Remegio. This is a very common place to beach goers and to those who love adventures because of the islands’ pride white beaches, caves and other natural attractions. The Crystal-clear water and a long stretch of powdery white sand plus the most common and deliciously-fresh sea foods products make the island famous not just for local tourists but also to foreigners who love to see the beauty of nature. Bantayan Island is now considered as the shinning tropical of Asia because of its panoramic appearance and an incredible charisma to tourists that make them decide of coming back in the island again and again.

Another reason why Bantayan Island has been famous for so long is their active and solemn celebration of holy week every year. The people in Bantayan Island are mostly Christians, aside from the fact that it has the oldest church in the Visayas and Mindanao, it is also named as the Lenten capital of the Visayas. Many people from Cebu and from other places love to spent holy week in the island not only for beach fun and relaxation but also to witness the holy week procession and to observe the most solemn practice of faith. Because of this, almost all resorts in the island double their rates at this time of year.

It’s my pride to taste the culture and witness the trending walks of life in this island which composed of three municipalities ( Sta. Fe, Bantayan, Madridejos) during my stay for more than 2 years as part of my supervisory job. Thanks to CARD-MRI.
