As history declared, about 490 years ago when a group of Spanish explorers headed by Ferdinand Magellan arrived in the Philippines, a symbol of their mission was planted in Sugbo- now Cebu. A big Cross made from Tindalo wood was installed as a symbol of the group’s primary mission to explore and to bring the Christian religion to the Philippines. This historical fact and figure is until now being treasured for the fact that it has been a part of the Country’s significant history. Magellan’s cross has become another tourist attraction in Cebu which is situated just at the Back of Sto. Basilica fronting new Cebu City hall.
